Creed Smallwood

ANTWERP – Creed Smallwood, 76, of Antwerp, died on August 3, 2021 at Fort Wayne VA Medical Center.  Born on August 22, 1944 in Pikeville, KY., he was the son of Vertie (Bartley) King and James Smallwood, both deceased.

He is survived by his two children: Don Smallwood of Oakwood and James (Kim) Smallwood of Antwerp; his grandchildren: Waylon Smallwood, Brooke Laney, and Dallas (Skylar) Smallwood, all of Payne, Jessica (Jared) Hogans of Cecil, and Amber (Neil) Hanenkratt of Paulding; and nine great-grandchildren.

Creed was also preceded in death by two brothers, James Smallwood and Thomas King.

He was employed at Johns Manville for 22 years and retired from Schneider National in 2006 after 15 years.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  Creed enjoyed meeting friends at local restaurants, going to garage sales, watching traffic go by with his neighbors, and riding and polishing his Harley.  He also enjoyed spending time with his best friend and cousin, Ronnie Bartley.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Antwerp Community Church, Antwerp.  Burial will follow at Wiltsie Cemetery, Payne.  A visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church.  Arrangements are under the direction of HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood.
