Cristela A. Hinojosa

LEIPSIC – Cristela A. Hinojosa, 87, of Leipsic, died 4:20 a.m., Saturday, March 7, 2026, at The Meadows of Leipsic. She was born September 30, 1938 in Rockport, TX to the late Dionicio and Filomena (Flores) Alafa. On March 12, 1955 she married Juan J. Hinojosa. He died November 2, 2013.

Survivors include four children: Jose A. (Michela) Hinojosa of Lima, Armando (Cheryl) Hinojosa of Defiance, Anabel (David) Arreguin of Hamler and Alice (Doug) Perry of Delta, CO; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and one on the way; siblings: Maricela Tobias, Emma Kindle and Guadalupe Alafa.

She was also preceded in death by several brothers: Francisco, Baldemar, Jose, Dionicio and Hector; and two sisters: Alveza Hernandez and Maria Alvarado.

Cristela worked at Libby’s for 18 years, Sherman Williams in Deshler for 15 years and then Weatherseal in Ottawa. She and Juan also owned and operated Mexican Village in Leipsic for many years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Leipsic and its Guadalupe Society (cooking for many over the years) and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She was also a member of the Leipsic Senior Citizens, and Leipsic American Legion Auxiliary. Cristela was very crafty and loved gardening.

Funeral mass will begin at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 14, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. Steve Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at St. Mary’s Parish Life Center, Leipsic. Arrangements are under the direction of LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic.

Memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or to St. Mary’s Church, Leipsic.
