Daniel E. Blankemeyer
COLUMBUS GROVE – Daniel E. Blankemeyer, 79, of Columbus Grove died at 5:08 p.m. Wednesday December 19, 2012 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born February 28, 1933 in Columbus Grove to the late Cornelius and Cecilia (Goecke) Blankemeyer. On January 12, 1954 he married Dolores "Dolly" Martin who survives in Columbus Grove.
Also surviving are 5 children: Don (Ruth) Blankemeyer of Ottawa, John (Anna Mae) Blankemeyer of Ottawa, Dave (Julie Schriner) Blankemeyer of Columbus Grove, Joan (Dale) Bockrath of Glandorf, and Jerry (Karen) Blankemeyer of Columbus Grove; 19 grandchildren: Karla, Neal, Cole, Eli, Laura, Andrew, Alex, Sara, Corey, Alicia, Kyle, Nicole, Tyler, Ryan, Eric, Andrea, Ethan, Emily, Meghan; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers: Norm (Kathy) Blankemeyer of Maumee, Jim (Carolyn) Blankemeyer of Vonore, TN, and Joe (Judy) Blankemeyer of Columbus Grove; a sister: Pat Donaldson of Columbus Grove; 3 brothers-in-law: Don Schroeder of Leipsic, William Hoffman of Columbus Grove, and John Brookman of Lima; and 2 sisters-in-law: Juanita Blankemeyer of Ottawa and Judy Blankemeyer of Kalida.
He was also preceded in death by a grandchild: Jacob Blankemeyer; 2 brothers: William and Bob Blankemeyer; 2 brothers-in-law: James Donaldson and Tom Stechschulte; and 4 sisters-in-law: Lenore Schroeder, Ethel Hoffman, Mildred Stechschulte, and Jean Brookman.
Dan was retired from Metokote Corporation where he was a welder and fabricator. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove, Columbus Grove Knights of Columbus, Ottawa Eagles, and the Farm Bureau.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Fr. Ken Schnipke and Fr. Gene Schnipke officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa, where a rosary service will be at 3:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or to a charity of the donor's choice.
