Daniel L. Stemen
FORT JENNINGS – Daniel L. Stemen, 87 of Ft. Jennings, passed away at 2:02 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2022, at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born February 1, 1935, in Elida to the late John M. and Pauline (Hetrick) Stemen, Sr. On September 5, 1959, he married Ann Shumaker, she survives in Ft. Jennings.
Daniel is also survived by four daughters: Rochele M. "Shelley" (Terry) Tschuor of Lima, Jodi L. Ellerbrock of Kalida, Lori A. (Randy) Brenner of Dayton, and Barbara L. Miller of Bluffton; ten grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
He is preceded in death by a son-in-law, William J. "Bill" Ellerbrock; a grandson, Terry Tschuor, Jr.; two brothers, John Stemen, Jr., Robert Stemen; and a sister, Hazel Louise (Ira) Taylor.
Daniel retired from Ford, Lima after 33 years. He was a U. S. Army veteran serving in the Signal Corp. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings. Daniel enjoyed wood working, outdoors, and camping with his family. He was a talented musician and enjoyed playing many instruments. He was also an avid bicycle rider. Daniel was a very loving father, and he adored his girls.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 12, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ft. Jennings with Father Charles Obinwa officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by Ft. Jennings American Legion and Ottoville VFW. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church.
