Daniel Velasquez

LEIPSIC – Daniel Velasquez, 65, of Leipsic, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at his residence. He was born February 20, 1959, in Bluffton to the late Cresencio and Vicenta (Castillo) Velasquez.  On August 23, 1980, he married Deb Drerup, who preceded him in death on November 13, 2010.  On September 20, 2014, he married Anne Zoll, who survives in Leipsic. He inherited four adult children, who he considered his own and loved them dearly.

Surviving him are:  Amy (Kyle) Barth, Heather (Curtis) King, both of Findlay, Brian (Heather) Myers of Tiffin and Amber (Joshua) Underwood of Findlay; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild on the way: and his siblings:  Baldemar (Sara) Velasquez, Jose Velasquez, Belia Spradlin, Irma (Jim) Nichols, Rick (Amy) Velasquez, and Emily (John) Semenik.

Along with his parents, he is also preceded in death by two brothers, Cresencio Velasquez Jr. and Oscar Velasquez; and a brother-in-law, Richard Spradlin.

Daniel retired as a millwright for Ball Metal, Findlay after 30+ years. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, where he served on the RCIA team for over 20 years and was a Minister of Praise. He was also a member of the Ottawa Eagles and a lifetime member of the Leipsic Fishing and Hunting Club. He enjoyed woodworking, building furniture, golfing and traveling with family. Daniel was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavaliers.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 30, 2024, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Scott Kramer officiating. A private burial will take place at a later date. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.  A scripture service will be held at 7:50 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
