Darrell F. and Carol A. Smith CONTINENTAL – Darrell F. Smith, 80, of Continental, passed away at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at Bridge Hospice, Findlay, and his wife Carol A. Smith, 65, of Continental, passed away at 9:14 p.m. on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at her residence. Darrell was born April 10, 1944, in Putnam County, to the late Calvin and Ruby (Ordway) Smith.  Carol was born January 19, 1959, in Putnam County, to the late Gerald and Evelyn (Fisher) Wagner.  On November 22, 1977, they were married, and just celebrated 47 years together. Surviving are four children:  Jerry (Maggie) Smith of Celina, Dennis Smith of Continental, Charles Smith of Findlay, and James (Krystle) Smith of Defiance; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; Darrell's sisters: Shirley Deken and Janice Bingley, both of Continental; Darrell's brother:  Larry Smith of Defiance. They are preceded in death by a grandson, Cory Smith; Carol's two brothers, Dale Wagner and Fred Wagner; and Darrell's brother, Ronald Smith. Darrell retired from GM Powertrain, Defiance.  He enjoyed woodworking.  Carol retired from McDonalds, Ottawa.  She enjoyed baking, sewing, canning-freezing.  Together they liked to sit around the pond and go camping. Funeral services will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2024, at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental with Pastor Jimmy Fry officiating. The burial will take place at a later date.  A visitation will be held from 12 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Continental EMS.
