David Arthur Croy

FORT JENNINGS – David Arthur Croy, 78, of Fort Jennings, died at 10:38 a.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Kindred Hospital, Lima.  He was born November 15, 1942 in Ottawa to the late Arthur and Barbara (Mullett) Croy-Hoyt.  On June 28, 1974 he married Rita C. Pohl, who preceded him in death.

David is survived by a son: Scott (Tamara) Croy-Thomas of Columbus; and a daughter: Stephanie (Eric) Braun of Celina; five grandchildren: Adam and Katie Thomas, and Conner, Samantha and Gabriella Braun; and three siblings: Charles (Judy) Croy of Ottawa, Corwin (Rita) Croy of Bluffton, and Darlene Cutlip of Alpharetta, GA.

He is also preceded in death by his stepfather, Charles Hoyt, Sr.

David was a 1960 graduate of Ottawa Public School, Ottawa.  He spent recent years working as a security guard at KMI.  He and his wife operated D & R Lock and Key Service, Fort Jennings.  David also helped operate, with his wife, Croy's Hardware and Variety, Cloverdale from 1985 to 1997 and Grover Hill from 1995 to 1997.  He loved sharing stories of his younger years and jokes.  He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m.on Friday, August 6, 2021 at St. Michael's Cemetery, Kalida.
