LEIPSIC - David J. Herring, 59, of Leipsic died at 12:27 a.m. Monday, October 30, 2017 at his residence. He was born September 19, 1958 in Los Angeles, CA to the late Clark and Helen M. (Murray) Herring. On September 22, 1979 he married Marcia Kemper who survives in Leipsic.

Also surviving are two children, Jillian (Rob) Meyer of Columbus Grove and Troy (Sarah) Herring of Leipsic; six grandchildren, Ethan, Elijah, Abigail, Ty, Alexander,  Jocelyn, and one on-the-way; two sisters, Gayle Alexander of Crestline, CA and Nancy (Joe) Myers of Leipsic; a brother, Brian (Kari) Cupp of Arlington; many nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law; and his beloved dog, Dazy. He was also preceded in death by an infant, grandbaby Herring, stepmother, Alice Herring; a sister, Vicki Wittman, and a brother, Alan Cupp.

Dave was an electrical technician at Pro Tec, Leipsic. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic. He was on the Leipsic Fire Department from June 27, 1979 to July 31, 2011 and was Chief from 1993 to 1994 and from 2002 to 2005. He also volunteered for the Leipsic EMS from April of 2001 to March of 2012, was a dispatcher for Putnam County Sheriff Department from March 12, 2006 to October 30, 2017. He loved NASCAR and going to Sprint Car Races. Dave enjoyed his many trips on his Harley Davidson with the Otterbein Angels.

A Mass of  Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 2, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. William Pifher officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the mass on Thursday at church. Scripture service will be held 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
