David E. Sarka

KALIDA – David E. Sarka, 73, of Kalida, passed away at 6:33 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at The Meadows of Kalida. He was born May 9, 1951, in Lima to the late Earl and Mildred (Grote) Sarka.

He is survived by a son, Marino (Madelyn) Sarka of Kalida; two grandchildren: William and Aila Sarka; and close cousins: Mike (Sandy) Gerdeman, Jane (Gregg) Giessler, Sue (Ted) Verhoff and Charlie (Penny) Gerdeman.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Sarka.

David retired from VoMac Truck Sales and Service, Inc., New Haven, IN, where he worked for 6 years. He previously dedicated 22 years of service with his family to Mack Truck, Inc., Defiance, OH and Fort Wayne, IN. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Kalida, where he was a devoted catholic and never missed church. David enjoyed going for drives and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren that he loved to show off. David never met a stranger and got along with just about everyone.

Funeral Mass will begin 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Phil Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township and one hour prior to the mass on Friday at the church.
