David Joseph Schmitz
GLANDORF – David J. Schmitz, 55, of Glandorf, died at 4:39 a.m. on February 16, 2021 at OSU Medical Center, Columbus. He was born July 29, 1965 in Lima to Ron and Joan (Zeller) Schmitz. His father and step-mother Miriam survive in Glandorf. His mother is deceased. On October 14, 1989, he married Kathleen Leis, she survives in Glandorf.
He is also survived by two children: Kelly Schmitz of Columbus and Bradley Schmitz of Glandorf; a brother: Richard (Susan) Schmitz of Glandorf; three sisters: Dorothy (Clark) Skinner of Rochester, MI., Jodi (Brian) Ruen of Perrysburg, Sherri (Curt) Niekamp of Dublin; four step-brothers: Mark (Sharon) Miller, Ryan (Roberta) Miller, David (Deneika) Miller, Andrew (Brittany) Miller; a step-sister: Kelsey (Kraig) Allmandinger; a brother-in-law: Jim (Jan) Leis of Miller City and his mother-in-law: Bev Leis of Miller City.
His is preceded in death by his father-in-law: Lavon Leis.
David worked at Pro-Tec Coating Company, Leipsic. He was member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf and its Men's Society. He was also a member of the Ottawa Eagles, and the Ottawa K of C.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 19, 2021 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Father Tony Fortman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In keeping with the social distancing guidelines, a visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa, with a scripture service at 1:45 p.m. Masks will be required upon entering the funeral home and/or church.
