Obituary

Dean Douglas “Bones” Warnecke

POWELL, formerly of Kalida - Dean Douglas "Bones" Warnecke, 56, of Powell, Ohio passed away on October 9, 2026.

Dean passed away unexpectedly, in his sleep, during his annual golf trip with close friends. He spent his day doing what he loved playing golf, sharing laughs and enjoying time together.

Born March 25, 1970, Dean was originally from Kalida, Ohio. He was the much beloved husband of Vicki (Wieging) Warnecke of Powell, OH, father to Austin Warnecke of Nashville, TN and Adam Warnecke of Laramie, WY, son of Paul and Cathy (Hicks) Warnecke of Kalida, OH and brother to Dawn (Dave) Burroughs of Pickerington, OH.

Dean is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Verle “Bud” and Judy Wieging of Fort Jennings; two sisters-in-law: Cheryl (Vince) Schnipke and Cynthia (Mark) Grone, both of Fort Jennings; a brother-in-law: Cliff (Holly) Wieging of Fort Jennings; his uncle: Kenny Unverferth of Kalida as well as his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Dean is preceded in death by his loving aunt, Carolyn Unverferth.

Dean and Vicki ran Olentangy Apparel, the custom apparel business that they built together. Outside of work, Dean loved NASCAR, rock and roll, playing darts, pool and golf. He was also a Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and had a particular passion for all things Mopar. His purple Dodge Challenger was his baby - a car he took great pride in.

Dean had a gift for connecting with people. He would talk with strangers until he found common ground, then they would become friends. His personality was infectious and, truly, there wasn’t anyone who didn’t like him.

Dean will be deeply missed by his family, friends and the many people who were lucky enough to know him.

Dean’s funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at the LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Twp with Deacon Larry Schimmoeller officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Kalida. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 12 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
