Denny J. Heitmeyer

KALIDA – Denny J. Heitmeyer, 63, of Kalida, passed away peacefully at his residence, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at 9:14 p.m.  He was born June 16, 1960, in Lima to Jerry and Helen (Rieman) Heitmeyer.  His mother precedes him in death, and his father, Jerry (Cathy) Heitmeyer survive in Cloverdale.  On September 28, 1985, he married Bernice Hanneman, who survives in Kalida.

Denny is also survived by three children: Sara (Kevin) Beining of Ottoville, Megan (Ben) McIntyre and Tyler (Ericka) Heitmeyer, both of Kalida; grandchildren: Katelyn, Collin, and Kylie Beining, Hannah McIntyre, Grayson Heitmeyer and one on the way; two brothers: Norm (LeeAnn) Heitmeyer of Columbus and Tom (Deb) Heitmeyer of Kalida.

Along with his mother, he is also preceded in death by an infant brother, Michael Heitmeyer.

Denny was a 1978 graduate of Kalida High School.    He retired from Ford Motor Company, Lima. Denny was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Kalida, and its Holy Name Society.  He was also a member of the Kalida K of C.  Denny was an avid golfer and an Ohio State fan.  He loved spending time with his grandkids, family, and friends.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 18, 2023, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Nathan Bockrath officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2023, from 2 to 8 p.m. with a scripture service beginning at 1:30 p.m. and again on Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township.
