NEW CLEVELAND – Dolores M. Lammers, 89, of New Cleveland, died peacefully at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 6, 1934 in Lima to the late Louis and Florence (Siefer) Niese. On October 30, 1952, she married Ronald F. Lammers, who preceded her in death on May 20, 2014.
Dolores is survived by four children: Denny (Deb) Lammers of Glandorf, Diane (Tim) Gable of Leipsic, Brenda (Michael) Tolles of Defiance and Ronda (Brian) Lybarger of Lima; 17 grandchildren: Nicki (Brian) Fenstermaker, Russ (Amie) Lammers, Melanie (Doug) Westrick, Lee Lammers, Ben (Alison) Gable, Dr. Dustin (Alex) Gable, Scott (Brittany) Gable, Ciara (Dylan) Ellerbrock, Cody (Samantha) Gable, Mitch (Blake) Gable, Melissa (Meghan) Walls, Breanna (Cody) Tolles, Chandler (Abbey) Shafer, Brad Shafer, Alexis (Kyle) Shafer, Grant (Breonna) Ozier and Brayden Lybarger; 25 great-grandchildren: Alex (Emma) Westrick, Jaren Westrick, Mikayla (Nolan) Niese, Drake (Kylie) Lammers, Carter Lammers, Lauren Fenstermaker, Cole Fenstermaker, Miley Lammers, Griffin Gable, Nora Gable, Eleanor Gable, Gracie Gable, Emeline Gable, Delilah Gable, Harper Gable, Aurora Gable, Ivy Ellerbrock, Aiden Lutz, Oliver Lutz, Paxton Donnelly, Jaxson Shafer, Jameson Shafer, Sophia Shafer, Korben Brotherton, and Maryah Shafer; and 2 great-great-grandchildren: Myles Niese and Baby Girl Lammers.
She is also preceded in death by three brothers: Arthur (Mary) Niese, Harold (Coletta) Niese, and Virgil (Margie) Niese; and a sister, Mildred (Don) Bidlack.
Dolores retired after 26 years from Ford Motor Company, Lima as a receiving and shipping clerk. She had also worked as an admitting clerk for St. Rita's Hospital. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, New Cleveland, its Altar Rosary Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. Dolores was a guitarist, vocalist, and was amazing at yodeling. She performed at many events and won a country music concert in Findlay, Ohio. She enjoyed spending time with her children and all of her grandchildren and loved them fiercely. Her family was the center of her life. She also played tennis and loved bowling. There were countless shopping trips with her daughters, creating many lasting memories. She was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Putnam County Hospice nurses. Their love and kindness to our family went above and beyond. Thank you for all you have done to keep our mom comfortable as well as showing our family compassion.
Funeral Mass will begin 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Holy Family Catholic Church, New Cleveland with Fr. Scott Perry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday and one hour prior to Mass on Wednesday at the LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa. A C.L. of C./Parish Rosary Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
