Donald E. "Donnie" Bauer

OAKWOOD - Donald E. "Donnie" Bauer, 70, of Oakwood died 8:20 a.m., Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance.  He was born December 13, 1944 in Lucas County to the late Robert and Maxine (Daub) Bauer.

Surviving is his long time companion: Norma Broecker of Oakwood; 3 children: Scott Bauer and Kevin (Bev Coil) Bauer both of Oakwood, and Michael Bauer of Fort Wayne, IN; 9 grandchildren: Erica (Mike) Sanders, Ashley Bauer, Christopher Bauer, Tyler Bauer, Jeff Bauer, Justin Bauer, Kurtis Bauer, Konner Bauer and Celeste Bauer; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings: Mary (Jim) Mowery of Continental, twin brother Ronnie (Pat) Bauer of TN, Sue (Chuck) Austin of FL, and Ray Weir of NY; 2 sisters-in-law: Minnie Karr of CO and Sue Weir of Findlay; a special ex daughter-in-law: Katrina Bauer; and 2 special pets: Sneaky Pete (bottle fed by Donnie) and Buggy.

He was preceded in death by a son: Craig Bauer; siblings: Jane Pickett, Melton Weir, Robert Karr and David and Sandy Leibher; and a sister-in-law: Sandra Weir.

Donnie worked as a truck driver for Homier & Sons in Continental, he was also a life long farmer and helped sell seed corn on Andrews Farms.  He was a member of Dupont Church of the Brethren, Fox Club in Junction, MS Society, Citizen Band Radio, and Singles Club.  Donnie loved the outdoors, especially watching birds.

Funeral service will begin 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Dupont Church of the Brethren, Dupont with Rev. Terry Porter and Rev. Brad Colley officiating.  Burial will be at a later date in Riverview Memorial Gardens, Defiance.  Visitation will be Friday from 2 p.m. - 8 p.m. at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be given to MS or to the charity of the donor's choice.
