OTTOVILLE – Donald K. Beining, 94, of Ottoville, passed away at 4:50 p.m., Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 9, 1931, in Ottoville to the late Oliver J. and Elizabeth M. (Gasser) Beining. On May 14, 1955, he married Betty A. Kroeger, who survives in Ottoville.

Other survivors include four children: Rod (Sue) Beining, Sheila (Gene) Miller, Larry (Lisa) Beining and Jerry (Sue) Beining, all of Ottoville; 13 grandchildren: Krista (Craig) Hughes, Kevin (Sara) Beining, Tyler (Brittany) Miller, Brandon Miller, Derek (Alyssa) Miller, Sarah (Kyle) Mawer, Jill (Craig) Schnipke, Gina (Kurt) Menke, Kari (Austin) Norbeck, Nick (Jessica) Beining, Troy (Cassandra) Beining, Nathan (Jensyn) Beining and Rachel (Dalton) Bunch; 32 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Schroeder of Brooklyn, MI; a sister-in-law, Anne Beining of Ottoville; and in-laws: Marilyn Lenhart of Spencerville, Bill (Barb) Kroeger and Tom Kroeger, both of Delphos.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by eight siblings: Julius (Rita) Beining, Leona (Linus) Berelsman, Ludvina Beining, Edna Baxter, Adeline Beining, Norma (Bernard) Reindel, Robert (Ruth) Beining and Paul Beining; a brother-in-law, Harold Schroeder; and in-laws: Kenneth (Marge) Kroeger, Arlene (Bob) Bendele, Gene Lenhart, Janet Kroeger and Gloria Kroeger.

Donald had a passion for his family, farming and faith. He retired as a lifelong farmer and was a veteran of the US Army serving from 1954 to 1956. He and Betty lived in Texas while he served in the military. They shared many wonderful memories from their time there with lifelong friends. He and his brother, Bob, farmed together until his son, Rod joined him, and now grandson, Kevin, is the fourth generation to join the family farm.

Donald enjoyed spending time with his family and loved that so many of them lived so close. He especially loved large family gatherings with all four generations.

Donald’s faith was very important to him. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, where he served as an usher, counted money, painted and helped roof the church.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville with Very Reverend George Mahas officiating. The family will hold a private graveside at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville. The family will receive family and friends from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday prior to the Mass at the church.
