Donald B. “Don” Brown
LEIPSIC – Donald B. “Don” Brown, 80, of Leipsic, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. Don was born on August 5, 1945, in Lima to the late Nelson and Henrietta (Wehri) Brown. He married Connie Jo Spoors on September 3, 1971, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa. Together they had two children: a son, Anthony Lynn “Tony” (Pamela) Brown of Leipsic and a daughter, Angela Lyn “Angie” (Jeff) Carlson of Lima. He was also blessed with four surviving grandchildren: Brooke (fiancé Adrian Carrillo) Brown, Alaina Brown, Zachary (Riley Pearson) Carlson and Kelsie Carlson. Also surviving Don are two brothers: Robert (Rita) Brown of Lima and Ronald (Janet) Brown of Miller City; and a brother-in-law, Robert (Robin) Spoors of Findlay.
He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alexandra Brown; and in-laws: Merlin and Ruth Spoors.
Don worked at General Dynamic in Lima for 23 years. He loved cars. Don fixed up well over 60 wrecks and loved going to Nascar races. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa. Don was a big time Cleveland Browns fan. When people asked why, he would always answer, “What’s my last name?” He and Connie rarely missed their grandchildren’s sporting events. They enjoyed bowling on a mixed doubles league with dear friends, Terry and Debra Lovell, whom they also traveled to Tennessee with for many years. Don and Connie spent the last 37 years camping at Lake Erie. While camping, Don got his Charter Captain License. He chartered for 20 years.
Don proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 3 years, with one of those years in Vietnam. One of the most memorable days was when Tony surprised him with a trip on the Flag City Honor Flight to Washington D.C. It was a proud day for father and son.
Don never met a stranger. He loved talking to anyone he met, always telling good stories. Don will be truly missed by Connie, family and friends.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Tim McFarland officiating.
