Donald H. Halker, Sr.

OTTAWA – Donald H. Halker, Sr. of Ottawa, died 4:01 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2022 at the Meadows of Ottawa.  He was born December 26, 1934 in Lima to the late Elmer E. and Louise H. (Kuhbander) Halker, Sr.  On April 18, 1964 he married Lillian Gerding, who preceded him in death on September 26, 1980.

He is survived by 3 children:  Don Halker, Jr. of Ottawa, Steven J. (Nilda) Halker of McClure and Anne (Dave) Boninsegna of Ottawa; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren with two on the way; 4 sisters:  Shirley Brown of Lima, Mary Wiener of Ottawa, Barbara Schroeder of Columbus Grove and Debbie (Charles) Seimet of Lakeview; and 3 brothers:  Elmer Halker, Jr. of Pandora, Louis (Mary Ellen) Halker of Glandorf, and Thomas (Patti) Halker of Columbus Grove.

Don is preceded in death by a sister:  Donna Jean Halker and a step-granddaughter:  Carmela Boninsegna.

Don retired from Cooper Tire, Findlay after 39 years of service.  He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa and was a veteran of the Army National Guard.  Don was a member of the Ottawa VFW, American Legion and the AMVETS; as well as the Ottawa Eagles.  He enjoyed bowling, golfing and gambling and loved to sing.

The funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Father Scott Kramer officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Ottawa VFW, American Legion and AMVETS.  Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
