Donald H. Heitmeyer

OTTAWA-Donald H. Heitmeyer, 88 of Ottawa died at 8:25 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Colonial Nursing Center, Rockford, Ohio.  He was born February 19, 1932 in Putnam County to the late Walter and Martha (Hedrick) Heitmeyer.  On December 2, 1950 he married Eleanor Meyer, she preceded him in death on June 9, 2017.

Donald is survived by nine children: Delores (Ron) Nartker of Kalida, Carol Fisher of Fort Jennings, Patricia (Mark) Walsh of Dundee, MI, Linda (Mark) Finsel of Findlay, Theresa (David) Reaves of Troy, Mary Jo Heitmeyer of Ottawa, Steven (Lisa) Heitmeyer of King George, VA., Ginger Harden of Swannanoa, NC and Andrew Heitmeyer of Ottawa; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Alice Swetland of Ottawa, and Rosemary Wasserman of Leavenworth, KS; a brother: Eugene (Anne) Heitmeyer of Columbus Grove; and a sister-in-law: JoAnn Heitmeyer of Sidney.

He is preceded in death by a son-in-law, John Fisher; a brother, Virgil Heitmeyer; and two brothers-in-law, Gene Wasserman and Earl Swetland.

Donald was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa as well as the Ottawa K of C.

Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 18, 2021 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Scott Kramer officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  In keeping with the social distancing guidelines a visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa, as well as Monday 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  Masks will be required upon entering the funeral home and/or church.
