Donald L. Maas
Ottawa -- Donald L. Maas, 82 of Ottawa died at 9:05 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2015 at the Meadows of Kalida. He was born February 14, 1932 in Ottawa, to the late Lawrence J. and Agnes (Dinan) Maas. On May 11, 1957 he married Julianna Warnecke who died January 12, 2012.
He is survived by five sons: Terry (Shari) Maas, Steve Maas both of Ottawa, Joe (Sandy) Maas of Columbus Grove, Kevin (Karen) Maas and Denny (Pam) Maas both of Ottawa; three siblings: Richard (Marie) Maas and Mary Catherine Siefker both of Ottawa, and Beatrice Meyer of Leipsic; 13 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren with 3 more on the way.
He was preceded in death by his sisters: Ruth (Victor) Bellman and Maxine (Norbert) Lammers; his brother: John Maas; and his brothers-in-law: Bob Meyer and Thomas Siefker.
Don retired after 40 years from Weatherseal in Ottawa. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa and an adult server for Mass, Ottawa American Legion, a social member of Ottawa VFW, the Ottawa Eagles, Kalida Fish and Game and Glandorf Rod and Gun. He was a US Army Veteran during the Korean War. Don loved fishing and sports, especially Ottawa-Glandorf sports.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with a military rites by the Ottawa American Legion, VFW and Am Vets. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where a rosary will begin at 2:00 p.m.
