Donald J. McKibben

ASHLAND – Donald J. McKibben, 91, of Ashland, formerly of Continental, passed away 5:24 a.m., Friday, September 20, 2024, at Kingston of Ashland. He was born March 20, 1933, in North Creek to the late Harvey and Nellie (Green) McKibben. On March 27, 1954, he married Jenet "Jean" Etter, who survives in Ashland.

Other survivors include three children: Doug (Linda) McKibben of Ashland, Mark (Kim) McKibben of Toledo and Beth Ann Knowles of Ashland; 12 grandchildren: Jill (Seth) Kelly, Craig (Kristen) McKibben, Eric (Jennifer) McKibben, Scott McKibben, Tim (Jennifer) McKibben, Trevor (Abby) Knowles, Tyler (Haley) Knowles, Morgan (Joshua) King, Timothy (Sadie) Knowles, Taylor (Rebeccah) Knowles, Mallory (August) Salom and Madalyn (Carson) Musgrove; and 28 great-grandchildren: Olivia Kelly, Everett Kelly, Margaret "Mae" Kelly, Hudson McKibben, Cornelia "Corey" McKibben, Cade McKibben, Finn McKibben, Allie McKibben, Colton McKibben, Camden McKibben, Makson McKibben, Maliah McKibben, Hudson McKibben, Renner McKibben, Zeke Knowles, Tucker Knowles, Milo Knowles, Brady Knowles, Jason Knowles, Owen Knowles, Brody Knowles, Lila Knowles, Montgomery Musgrove, Stetson Musgrove, Barrett Musgrove, Robert King, Sierra King and Finneas Salom.

He was also preceded in death by three siblings: Ruth Elizabeth McKibben (infant), Howard (Lillian) McKibben and Ron (Marlene) McKibben.

Donald retired from Dinner Bell Foods in Defiance. He was a member of the Dupont Church of the Brethren, where he was a lifetime Deacon, youth leader and Sunday school teacher. Donald was also a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and vacationing at his two favorite spots, Indian River, MI and Kaycee, WY.  Donald loved spending time with his friends and family.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Dupont Church of the Brethren with Pastor Terry Porter officiating. Burial will follow in Monroe Cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental and 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the church.
