Donald A. Rump
MILLER CITY - Donald A. Rump, 87, of Miller City, died 1:14 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2022 at The Meadows of Leipsic surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 2, 1934 in Leipsic to the late Cyril and Anna (Heuerman) Rump. On May 17, 1958, he married Connie M. Allspach, who preceded him in death on September 12, 2021.
Other survivors include six children: Chris (Connie) Rump, Lynn (Wayne) Pester both of Miller City, Dr. Anthony (Elaine) Rump of Ottawa, Sue (Randy) Wenzinger of Miller City, Dean Rump of Powell and Jodie (Mark) Lammers of Miller City; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and two on the way; two siblings: Ruth Selhorst Rieman of Leipsic and Jim (Sharon) Rump of Ottawa; two sisters-in-law, Norma Riepenhoff and Flo Wagner both of Miller City; and his dog, Dottie.
He was also preceded in death by two siblings: Virgil (Mary) Rump and Eileen (Len) Riepenhoff; father and mother-in-law, Neil and Marguerite (Parker) Allspach; three brothers-in-law: Bill Selhorst, Carl Rieman and Herb Wagner.
Don retired from Phillips, Ottawa. He was a talented woodworker at Blanchard Woodshop, Glandorf and had created the altar at Holy Family Catholic Church, New Cleveland. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard. Don coached Miller City baseball at all levels as well as Ottawa Legion Post 63. He enjoyed golfing, traveling and country music. He was an avid fan of Miller City sports, The Ohio State Buckeyes and Detroit Tigers. Don, Connie, their children and grandchildren all graduated from Miller City High School and were very proud of this. He loved taking his dog, Dottie on golf cart rides. Don was kindhearted and always willing to give of his time or any items when needed.
Funeral mass will begin 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City with Fr. Scott Perry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa with a scripture service at 7 p.m., as well as one hour prior to the mass on Wednesday at the church.
