Donald C. Siefker
Ottawa -- Donald C. Siefker, 79, of Ottawa died 6:46 a.m. Sunday, July 5, 2015 at his residence. He was born July 4, 1936 in Glandorf, Ohio to the late Lawrence and Dorothea (Inkrott) Siefker. On September 12, 1959 he married Alice Lauer, who survives.
He is also survived by six children: Kim (Karl) Baumgartner of Swanton, Dean (Beverly) Siefker of Ottawa, Beth (Jon) Petersen of New Bavaria, Dale (Monica) Siefker of Bloomington, IN, Mike (Sonia) Siefker of Glandorf and Jeff (Jane) Siefker of Dublin; A special niece : Mary Ann (Andy) Slivka of Columbus; 31 grandchildren, including special caregiver Alice Baumgartner; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Leon "Pete" (Pat) Siefker of Columbus Grove and Ken (Irena) Siefker of Ottawa; 2 sisters: Alice Gable of Hamler and Dorothy Wichman of Seattle, WA; 3 sisters-in-law: Doris Siefker of Phoenix, AZ, Luella "Sal" Siefker of Glandorf and Dolores Siefker of Miller City; and a brother-in-law: Fred Fortman of Van Wert.
He is preceded in death by a son Mark Siefker; 4 brothers: Alvin Siefker, Amos Siefker, Norbert Siefker and John Siefker; 2 sisters: Arline Snyder and Roselyn Fortman; 2 brothers-in-law: Hadyn Snyder, Arnold Gable; 2 Sisters-in-law: Letty Siefker, Betty Siefker.
Don was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf and a US Army Veteran. He retired from Philips ECG. He enjoyed woodworking, framing and matting photographs.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Father Tony Fortman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Ottawa's American Legion Post #63, VFW Post #9142, DAV and AMVETS. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where a rosary service will be at 7:45 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be given to Putnam County Hospice or St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Capital Fund.
