Donald F. "Spark" Niese
Leipsic - Donald F. "Spark" Niese, 84, of Leipsic died 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born March 31, 1931 in Leipsic to the late Vincent and Mary (Kleman) Niese. On July 3, 1957, he married Marvelle Leis who died February 12, 1998.
Spark is survived by his six children: Ronald "Spark" Niese of Leipsic, Mark (Jacque) Niese of Shawnee, Gary (LeAnn) Niese of Newark, Dennis (Karen) Niese of Rossford, Roger (Liz) Niese of Toledo and Craig (Trisha) of McComb Twp., MI; 16 grandchildren:Valerie (Paul) Stewart,David Niese, Joseph Niese, Austin Niese, Josh Niese, Shayna Niese, Dylan Niese, Tyler Niese, Ryan Niese, Timothy Niese, Jonathan David Niese, Carter Niese, Reagan Niese, Lincoln Niese, Trenten Niese and Owen Niese; 3 great-grandchildren: Colten and Lyndon Niese and Desmond Stewant; 3 sisters: Dolores (Dick) Schroeder of Columbus Grove, Marie (Ralph) Pothast of Glandorf and Norma (Denny) Michelsen of Leipsic; a brother: Paul (Eileen) Niese of Miller City and a sister-in-law Dorothy "Dort" Niese of Leipsic.
He is also preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Marie Niese; a brother, Melvin Niese and a brother-in-law: Wayne McCullough.
Spark retired in 1993 from the former Phillip's in Ottawa. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic. He is also a member of the Quarter Century Club; VFW #9547, Eagles #2793 and the Am Vets #57 all of Leipsic; Ottawa K of C #1757 and Miller City Sportsman Club. Spark was an Air Force Veteran serving in Korea.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 14, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. William Pifher officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by Leipsic VFW. Visitation will be Friday 2 to 8 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to the service at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic. A Scripture Service will be held at 1:45 p.m. and K of C Rosary at 8 p.m. both Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the Leipsic VFW Post for military funerals.
