Obituary

Doris M. “Dee Dee” (Meyer) Breece

OTTAWA – Doris M. “Dee Dee” (Meyer) Breece, 95, of Ottawa, passed away at 1:16 p.m., Saturday, February 14, 2026, at The Meadows of Kalida. She was born May 4, 1930, in Ottawa to the late Lawrence and Martha (Feltman) Meyer. On August 26, 1954, she married Louis A. Breece at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa. He preceded her in death on April 26, 2001.

Survivors include two daughters: Beth (Ott) Recker of Glandorf and Leesa (Mark) Yungmann of Ottawa; seven grandchildren: Gabrielle (Jesse) Martin, Constance (Braden) Skilliter, Lisa Recker, Alison (Garrett) Rayman, Mitch Yungmann, Nick (Emma Wurth) Yungmann and Tyson (Kristi) Yungmann; and twelve great-grandchildren: Aubrie Bogart, Kya Bogart, Bexley Martin, Stella Martin, Callum Skilliter, Booker Skilliter, Declan “Duckie” Skilliter, Levi Rayman, Peyton Rayman, Ethan Rayman, Krew Yungmann and Kade Yungmann.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by four brothers: Bob (Dolores) Meyer, Ray (Normie) Meyer, Kenny (Annie) Meyer, Donald (Doris) Meyer; and three sisters: Viv (Hattie) Halker, Lillian (Evan) Nieswander and Ali (Ray) Kohli.

Dee Dee was a stay-at-home mom until Beth and Leesa were older and later became a teacher’s aide for Family Resource Center. She went on to become an aide for Ottawa-Glandorf High School working with children that had developmental disabilities.

Dee Dee loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending all of their school activities and non-school activities. She enjoyed The Ohio State Buckeyes, camping, bingo, scratch off tickets, ice cream, Mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, rum and coke, and bowling. She once bowled a perfect score at Highland Lanes back in the 1950’s.

One of Dee Dee’s favorite stories to tell everyone was when she met “Lebrons” James’ mom in the restroom at a tournament basketball game. (If you know Dee Dee, then you know why we said “Lebrons”.)

The family would like to give thanks to Ottawa Party Mart on Main Street and Perry Street, Putnam County Homecare and Hospice and The Meadows of Kalida.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 21, 2026, Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Scott Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on Friday and one hour prior to mass on Saturday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.

Memorial donations may be made to Putnam County Homecare and Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice.
