Doris Mae Strite

LEIPSIC – Doris Mae Strite, 100, of Leipsic, formerly of Ottawa, passed away peacefully at 5:27 a.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at her residence.  She was born September 19, 1917 in Greensburg Township to the late Walter R. and Lena M. (Wurth) Huffman.  On March 14, 1935, she married Harold E. Strite.  He died October 7, 2008.

Survivors include four children: Martha (Willard) Rabert of Pleasant Hill, TN, Beverly (C. Richard) Mann of Monticello, IN, Dwight Strite of Ottawa and Carolyn (Richard) Schoenauer of Leipsic; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Patricia Strite; three brothers: Clark Huffman, Harold Huffman and Howard Huffman; and a sister, Maxine Miller.

Doris was a homemaker and had worked as seasonal help at various factories in the area.  She loved gardening and sewing, especially making rugs. Doris loved her family dearly and had just celebrated her 100th birthday.

Funeral services will begin 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 18, 2017 at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic with Pastor Tim Eding officiating.  Burial will follow in Varner Cemetery, Greensburg Township.  Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m., Friday and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
