Doris E. Hopkins

LEIPSIC – Doris E. Hopkins, 95, of Leipsic, died at 2:15 a.m. on Wednesday,  May 5, 2021 at the Meadows of Leipsic.  She was born on September 10, 1925 in Liberty Township to the late Roy C. "Jack" and Gladys (Jacob) Ward. On September 10, 1946, she married Vestal Hopkins. He died on February 26, 1982.

Survivors include 1 son: Charles "Chuck" (Margaret) Hopkins of Ottawa; 3 grandchildren: Doug (Melissa) Hopkins, Deanna (Todd) Hoffman, both of Columbus Grove and Denise (Michael) Peterson of Avon, IN; 4 step-grandchildren: Rob (Denise) Bauer, Ed (Rhonda) Kincaid, Brent (Julia) Bauer and Brian (Doreen Andrews) Bauer; 10 great-grandchildren; 8 step-great-grandchildren;  and 1 great-great grandson.

Doris was preceded in death by her sister and 2 brothers: Carole Sharrits, Richard Ward and Leon Ward.

Doris was the former co-owner of Hoppy's Corner in Leipsic. She retired from the Leipsic IGA. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Leipsic, the Leipsic Senior Citizens and the Eastern Star #16 in Lima. She loved playing cards and bingo.

Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021 at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic with Pastor Tim Eding officiating.  Burial will be in Sugar Ridge Cemetery, Leipsic.  In keeping with the social distancing guidelines, a visitation will be Friday from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic. Due to regulations regarding COVID-19, masks are required upon entering the funeral home.
