Dorothy R. Michel
OTTAWA - Dorothy R. Michel, 82, of Ottawa died at 9:51 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Putnam Heritage, Ottawa. She was born April 22, 1931 in Ottawa to the late Paul D. and Kathryn (Blymyer) Croy. On November 30, 1957 she married Harry L. Michel who died May 17, 1994.
She is survived by a sister: Pat (Ed) Ketner of Ottawa; 4 sisters-in-law: Alice Croy of Perrysburg, Sally Croy of Waterville, Mary Croy and Jean Croy both of Ottawa; and a brother-in-law: Gary Okuley of Ottawa. She was also preceded in death by her son: Mark Louis Michel; 4 brothers: Bob, Jim, Bill, and Don "Pete" Croy; and a sister: Carol Okuley.
Dorothy was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa and its Altar Rosary Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia, and for many years was on the Grief Ministry Team. She enjoyed volunteering and doing for others. She volunteered at the Ottawa Thrift Store for many years, was a volunteer at Calvary Manor Nursing Home, and was a classroom volunteer at Ottawa Elementary School for 15 years. She was also a member of the Ottawa Senior Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 9, 2013 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa. Memorials may be made to Putnam County ALS or to the Cancer Assistance Program (CAP) of Putnam County.
