Dorothy L. (Neal) Kaufman

CONTINENTAL – Dorothy L. (Neal) Kaufman, 89, of Continental died at 4:11 p.m., Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Heritage of Findlay.  She was born September 23, 1934, in Dola to the late Elmer J. Neal and Ruth May (Fackler) Neal. On May 1, 1953, she married Willes B. Kaufman, who preceded her in death on October 28, 2023.

Surviving are four children:  Mike (Sandy) Kaufman of Defiance, Pam (David) Floyd of Cross Hill, SC, Jill Brecht of Ottawa and Bettyjo (Bob) Zachrich of Marysville; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Charlie Neal of Findlay.

Dorothy is preceded in death by five siblings: Ruby Hartman, Mary Kindle, Ruth Coleman, Clara Neal and Elmer James Neal.

Dorothy was a homemaker and enjoyed visiting with all of her grandchildren. She created numerous memory photo albums over the years of family and friends. Her hobbies included flower gardening, crocheting and word puzzles.  She was an avid reader and wrote poetry.  Dorothy was a member of Liberty Springs Presbyterian Church, Cross Hill, SC and a former member of Ottawa Missionary Church, Ottawa.

Funeral service will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Ottawa Missionary Church with Rev. Marshall Metzger officiating. A private burial will take place at Monroe Cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. on Friday at the church.  Arrangements are under the direction of HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ottawa Missionary Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
