Dorothy T. Knapke
Glandorf – Dorothy T. Knapke, 86, of Glandorf died 11:58 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. She was born January 14, 1926 in Ironton to the late Hugh L. and Mary Margaret (Kinney) Murray. On June 2, 1951, she married Thomas L. Knapke, who survives in Glandorf.
Dorothy is also survived by her children: Mary Anne (David) Migliore of Worthington, Jeanne Callahan of Phoenix, AZ., Thomas G. (Kitty) Knapke of Cincinnati, Margaret Dissette of Sarasota, FL., Liz (Bo) Bacon of Mansfield, Joe (Amy) Knapke of London, and Tina Chia (Bob Mintz) of Worthington, 17 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and a daughter-in-law: Kathy Knapke of Riverside, CA. She is also preceded in death by a son: James Knapke; a grandson: Tommy Knapke; 6 brothers: Hugh Murray, Tom Murray, Bernard Murray, Richard Murray, Robert Murray and James Murray; and a sister: Aline VanLeeuwen.
Dorothy was a homemaker and formerly worked at Glandorf Savings and Loan, as a loan officer. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf and its Altar Rosary Society and the Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She graduated from Mount St. Joseph College in Cincinnati, with a degree in education. She also formerly worked at Dayton Power and Light and taught at Julienne High School in Dayton, Glandorf Elementary School and Miller City High School.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf, with Fr. Tony Fortman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa, where a Parish Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials may be given to St. John the Baptist Church or the charity of donor's choice.
