Obituary

Dorothy Ruen

DELPHOS (formerly of Ottoville) – Dorothy Ruen, 83, of Delphos, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 29, 1943, in Leipsic to the late Leo and Kathryn (Schroeder) Rieman. On October 5, 1963, she married Joseph “Joe” Ruen, who preceded her in death on March 16, 2016.

Dorothy is survived by her six children: Lori (Edward) Brinkman of Elida, Brian (Jodi) Ruen of Perrysburg, Mark (Deborah) Ruen of Richmond, VA, Lynn Ruen of Gibsonburg, Marie (James) Dowling of Westlake and Daniel (Stacie) Ruen of Shelby Township, MI; nine grandchildren: Matthew Barnes, Kevin Ruen, Adrianne (Travis) Johnson, Aaron Ruen, Garrett (Meagan) Brinkman, Ainsley Brinkman, Hailey Ruen, Gavin Ruen and Sara Dowling; five great-grandchildren; siblings: Stephen (Carol) Rieman of Bryan and Joseph (Cindy) Rieman of Hilliard; and in-laws: Marsha Rieman of Greenville, Roger (Diane) Ruen of Columbus, Mary Honigford of Coldwater, Joan Ruen, Millie Ruen, Irene Bullard, Marilyn (Dale) Calvelage, all of Ottoville and Catherine Heitz of Landeck.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Sr. Lisa Rieman; brother, Donald Rieman; and in-laws: Paul Ruen, Paul Honigford, Melvin Heitz and Fred (Annie) Ruen.

Dorothy retired from farming and ODOT. She was a member of Ottoville Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Landeck Catholic Ladies of Columbia, Delphos Eagles and Ottoville VFW Auxiliary. Dorothy was an amazing cook, enjoyed gardening, playing bingo and card games of all kinds, traveling, and going on day trips. Most of all, she loved watching her grandchildren’s activities and spending time with her family.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 21, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville with Very Reverend George Mahas officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township.  There will be a scripture service Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
