Dortha P. Cox

OTTAWA - Dortha P. Cox, 92, of Ottawa died 8:40 a.m. Sunday, October 18, 2020 at the Meadows of Ottawa.  She was born March 21, 1928 in West Leipsic to the late Charles and Anna May (Miller) Medley Sr. She had been married to William Hazelton, he died November 17, 1946.  On May 9, 1947 she married John William Cox, Sr., he preceded her in death on January 27, 1983.

Dortha is survived by her children: John (Micki) Cox Jr. of Ottawa, Bruce (Vicki) Cox of Florida, Sabrina Skidmore of St. Augustine, FL, Kim (Richard) Berg of Leipsic, Craig (Heather) Cox of Leipsic, Keith (Jessica) Cox of Ottawa, and Jody (Melinda) Cox of Miller City; twenty one grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; a son-in-law: Jesse Villearreal;  a sister: Barb Cattell; and a sister-in-law: Mary Medley.

She is preceded in death by a daughter: Cindy Villearreal;  a granddaughter: Mercedes Cox;  grandsons: Shawn Cox and Walter Gene Kohls Jr.;  and her siblings: Esther (Donald) Punches, Sary (Albert) Mull, Ruth Kinder, Charles (Beverly) Medley, Jr., Howard Medley, Cleal Medley, and Ethel Medley; and a brother-in-law: Harry Cattell.

Dortha was a homemaker.  She loved her kids and grandkids.  She enjoyed playing BINGO and faithfully mailed Christmas cards to family and friends

A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 22, 2020 at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa with Pastor Ada Hilton officiating.  Burial will follow at Harman Cemetery.  In keeping with the social distancing guidelines a visitation will be Wednesday 4 to 8 p.m. at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.  Masks are required upon entering the funeral home.
