MELROSE – Dottie Sue Hatfield, 71, of Melrose, passed away at 1:54 a.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at her residence. She was born January 22, 1953, in Mill Branch, KY to the late Estil and Mary Vada (Coleman) Branham. On September 16, 1972, she married Robert Lee Hatfield, who survives in Melrose.
Other survivors include three children: Marsha (Brian) Holbrooks of Oakwood, Susie (Jason) Marshall of Defiance and Pam (Ricky) Porter of Grover Hill; stepdaughter, Erin (Jon) Bustos; twelve grandchildren: Justin (Cece) Holbrooks, Jenny Lynn Holbrooks, Julie Anne Holbrooks, Brian Holbrooks II, Draven (Abigail) Bartley, Taiann Bartley, Teagan Marshall, Kaylee Porter, Jaxon Porter, Damien Marshall, Daniel Marshall and Kaeli Bustos; twelve great-grandchildren: Tyson, Kimber, Kinsley, Brooklyn, Mason, Aviana, Colt, Lakelynn, Alexander, Sativa, Stormm and Finn; two siblings: Blake (Rhonda) Branham of Lookout, KY and Sandy (Sam) Burns of Oakwood; twenty-two dearly loved nieces and nephews; in-laws: Billy Hatfield of WV, Rita (James) Cox of Luray, VA, Missy (John) Wickline of Meadow Bridge, WV and Sherry Branham of Defiance; and many wonderful friends.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Emily Huff; three siblings: Dean Branham, Scottie Branham and Connie Lynn Branham; three brothers-in-law; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law.
Dottie retired from Big Lots. She was a member of Voice of Life Church, Ayersville. Dottie enjoyed cooking and loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Mamaw." Her sisters, Sandy, Rita, Rhonda and Sherry were very special to her.
Funeral services will begin 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood with Pastor Kathy Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Sherman Cemetery, Oakwood. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and 12 to 1 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
