Dwight R. Strite Sr.

OTTAWA – Dwight R. Strite Sr., 79, of Ottawa, passed away at 3:35 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at his residence.  He was born May 10, 1942, in Ottawa, to the late Harold and Doris Mae (Huffman) Strite.  On January 15, 1967, he married Patricia Miracle, she preceded him in death on January 8, 2009.

Dwight is survived by four children:  Cindy (Bruce) McManis, Michael Strite, both of Hamden, Dwight (Melissa) Strite Jr. and Michelle (Todd) Pester, both of Ottawa; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and three sisters: Martha Rabert of Pleasant Hill, TN., Beverly (C. Richard) Mann of Monticello, IN., Carolyn Schoenauer of Leipsic; brothers-in-law: Paul Travis, Iva Miracle, and Chester "Bill" (Kathy) Miracle, who was like a brother to Dwight; and sisters-in-law: June Remley, and Judy Boyd.

He is also preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Willard Rabert, Richard Schoenauer, James Remley, and Robert Boyd; sisters-in-law, Mary Travis and Shelva Miracle.

Dwight was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during Vietnam.  He was a lifelong farmer and retired from Agri Supply, yet he never fully retired from spraying application of the fields. Dwight was a member of the Ottawa VFW.  His family was his pride and joy, he loved attending his grandkids events.  He was a collector of many things.  Dwight enjoyed the luncheons with Ottawa Public High School 1960 classmates.

A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa with Chaplain Nathan Tucker officiating.  Burial will follow in Varner Cemetery, Greensburg Township, with military rites by the Ottawa VFW and American Legion, AmVets and DAV.  A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the Ottawa VFW or Putnam County Hospice.
