Edith E. Yant

OTTAWA - Edith E. Yant, 96, of Ottawa died at 11:35 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2017 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. She was born January 29, 1921 in West Cairo, OH to the late Waldo F. and Low B. (Freet) Lackey. On May 9, 1942 she married Donald Yant, Sr. who died March 22, 1995.

She is survived by three children, Donald (Mary) Yant, Jr. of Pandora, Steve (Dreama) Yant of Botkins, and Kevin Yant of Ottawa; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a brother, Howard (Irene) Lackey of Bath Township; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Yant of Ottawa; three sisters-in-law, Linda Yant of Glendale, AZ., Charlotte Yant of Lima, and Rosemary Lackey of Lima; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a son, Ronald Yant, Jr; three brothers, Francis, Wayne, and Waldo Jr. Lackey; and three step brothers, Mike, Frank, and Vaughn Winegardner.

Edith was retired from Philips formerly of Ottawa. She was a sixty year member of Ottawa American Legion Post 63 Auxiliary.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017 at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa with Pastor Peter Doseck officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Ottawa's American Legion Post 63 Auxiliary.
