Edith M. Kleman
Continental – Edith M. Kleman, 91, of Continental, passed away at 12:35 a.m., Monday, January 22, 2024 at The Meadows of Ottawa. She was born December 13, 1932, in Ottawa to the late August and Selina (Boerger) Michel. On May 26, 1950, she married Paul Kleman, who preceded her in death on August 1, 1989.
Survivors include eight children: Linda (Anthony) Hermiller of Cloverdale, Ralph (Jackie) Kleman of Avon Park, FL, Sandra Yant of Ottawa, Ruth Myers of TX, Patricia (Terry) Eis of Reading, MI, Dale (Teresa) Kleman of Cridersville, John Kleman of FL and Mary Jo (Bob) Cumpston-Bisschoff of Tieton,WA; 23 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and her beloved cat companion, Peanut.
She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Roger Kleman; and a son-in-law, Charles Cumpston III.
Edith graduated from Sts. Peter And Paul Catholic School, Ottawa. She was a dedicated hard worker. Over the years, she worked at Putnam Stone Quarry doing book work, Leipsic Cannery, was a full time farmer's wife, housekeeper and Ellis Community meal helper. She was a member of the former St. Joseph Catholic Church, North Creek and then Sacred Heart New Bavaria and their Altar Rosary Societies, Ottawa VFW Ladies Auxiliary and longtime member of "The Foresters" Lima. She enjoyed polka dancing, embroidery, crafts, playing solitaire, bingo, taking care of the flower garden and making trips to Carey to visit the Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation. Edith loved spending time with her family and friends.
The family would like to recognize the nurses and aides, along with the activities department at The Meadows of Ottawa, for their deep love and compassion that they have shown our mom.
Arrangements are under the direction of HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental.
Funeral Mass will begin 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City with Fr. Scott Perry officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, North Creek. Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday prior to the mass at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Meadows of Ottawa: Activities Department or the Miller City Fire Department.
