Edwin C. "Ed" Rosenberger

GILBOA - Edwin C. "Ed" Rosenberger, 82 of Gilboa, sailed on to bluer waters the last week of December. A simple man, with a brilliant mind and a dreamer's soul. Engineer, inventor, father, brother, friend and army veteran… we'll all miss making him laugh and his eagerness to get into and help with any mechanical puzzle.

He gave more than he was really able, worried but supported, cried over Bambie and went hunting the next week, dreamed big and lived small, he was ahead of his time and uniquely old school all at once… there was a whole world in this one man.

Stubborn as a mule, but in the best way… his tenacity to hold on to his future plans, his home and everything he had to endure with dialysis and a body that couldn't keep up with his dreams was awe inspiring.

Ornery and proud of it - oh the pranks he would pull, the curiosity gone wrong that ended in hilarious stories, the cheesy face he would make in every photo (and this scramble to find anyone who had one he didn't mark with it, will forever be his last prank on all of us).

To be welcomed home by parents Gene & Jenny, brother Jim and missed immensely by siblings Judy Frey and Bill Rosenberger, children Kimberly Collett, Michael and Scott Rosenberger, Grandchildren Cora and Connor Collett, and extended family. Thank you to Susie Smith for being a light and all the nurses that supported and enjoyed visits with their affectionately dubbed 'Dr. Ed'.

A celebration of life and reunion will be planned in the spring… but until then, hug your people and raise a glass to a good man gone sailing.
