Obituary

Edwin Lee Ketner OTTAWA – Edwin Lee Ketner, 82, of Ottawa, passed away at 5:05 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at The Meadows of Ottawa surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 2, 1942, to the late Alvin and Clara (Carr) Ketner. On September 1, 1962, he married Patricia Ketner, who survives in Ottawa. Also surviving are two children: Scott (Suzanne) Ketner and Amy (Ray) Trigg, both of Ottawa; five grandchildren: Daniel (Chloe) Ketner, Matthew Ketner, Megan Ketner, Elizabeth Trigg and Abigail (Noah) Graham; two great-grandchildren on the way; a sister, Jane White of West Bend, WI; and a sister-in-law, Diane Ketner of Gilboa. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers: John Ketner and David (Jan) Ketner; two sisters: Carolyn Geiger and Sue Ann Ketner; and two half-brothers: Alvin Ketner and Alfred Ketner. Ed graduated from Pandora-Gilboa High School in 1959. He retired from Philips Display Components, Ottawa, where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. After retirement, he worked at Tucker's Pharmacy for 15 years. He was also a member of the Putnam County Friends of the Library and Trinity United Methodist Church, where he served on numerous committees. Ed was a fireman with the Ottawa Fire Department since 1965 and currently served on Reserves. He also served on the Ottawa Park Board for 24 years, Ottawa Housing Board for 8 years, was a Boy Scout Leader for many years and volunteered at both Ottawa and Glandorf Elementary Schools. Ed enjoyed woodworking and making things for other people. He was an avid fan of the O-G Titans and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Ed loved his family deeply and will be missed by all who knew him. The family would like to thank the staff at The Meadows of Ottawa and Putnam County Hospice for all of their help and support. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 9, 2024, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Ottawa with Pastor Marcella Ciccotelli officiating. Burial will follow at Harman Cemetery, Gilboa. Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa and 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday at the church. An Ottawa Fire Department service will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Ottawa, Putnam County Hospice or the Ottawa Fire Department. Condolences may be expressed at www.lovefuneralhome.com
