Eileen June Schmidt
CONTINENTAL - Eileen June Schmidt passed away at 1:30 p.m. on July 29, 2013 at Brookview Healthcare Center in Defiance. She was born June 7, 1925 in Miller City to the late Lawrence and Esther (Morgan) Hazelton. On August 28, 1944 she married Gerald Schmidt who died October 23, 1997.
She is survived by her children: Carole (Robert) Zachrich of Holgate, Margaret (Chuck) Hopkins of Ottawa, Beverly (Bub) Rockhold, Michael (Cindy) Schmidt, and Linda (Randy) Liffick all of Continental, and Jane (Stan) Harmon of Oakwood; a brother: Robert (Joetta) Hazelton of Leipsic; three sisters-in-law: Marvel Schmidt, Jennie Hazelton, and Marilyn Hazelton; fifteen grandchildren: Robert (Trena) Zachrich, Bradley (Nichole) Zachrich, Robert (Denise) Bauer, Brent (Julia) Bauer, Brian (Cindy) Bauer, Rhonda (Ed) Kincaid, Brenda (Ron) Bruce, Joe Schmidt, Melissa (Chris) Davis, Alyson (Ryan) Hageman, Jeff (Emily) Liffick, Julie (Paul) Dockery, Greg (Kristie) Harmon, Kirsten Harmon, and Katie Harmon; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers: Marvin, Lawrence, Jr., and Charles Hazelton.
Eileen graduated from Continental High School in 1943. She was a homemaker, Continental High School cafeteria cook, 4-H and Girl Scout Leader. She was a member of the Continental United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and served on many committees in the church. She was also a member of the Continental OCCL Club. She was a firm believer of JOY!, Jesus, Others and Yourself. She enjoyed her family, counted cross-stitch, quilting, and Amish books.
Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2013 at the Continental United Methodist Church. The Reverends Stan Harmon and Charles Schmunk will officiate. Burial will follow in Monroe Cemetery, Continental. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental and one hour prior to the service at church on Friday. Memorials may be made to the Continental United Methodist Church.
