Eileen D. Niese

LEIPSIC – Eileen D. Niese, 77, of Leipsic, died 9:45 p.m., Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Putnam Heritage in Ottawa.  She was born January 5, 1941 in Leipsic to the late Urban F. and Esther (Ellerbrock) Schroeder.  On January 23, 1960, she married Richard "Dick" Niese.  He died January 17, 2011.

Other survivors include five children: Jane (Mark) Ellerbrock of Columbus Grove, Connie Niese of Bryan, Kathy (Mark) Walter of Garrett, IN, Julie (Scott) Ellerbrock of Ottawa and Gary (Jane) Niese of Leipsic; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four siblings: Mildred Schulte, Clara Cavanaugh and John Schroeder all of Ottawa, and Carl Schroeder of FL.

She was also preceded in death by seven siblings: Gerald Schroeder, Dorothy Mayes, Daniel Schroeder, Eugene "Dude" Schroeder, Robert Schroeder, Irene Conklin and Bernard Schroeder.

Eileen was co-owner of Ceramic World formerly in Ottawa and retired from the bakery department at IGA formerly in Leipsic.  She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic and its Altar Rosary Society and New Cleveland Catholic Ladies of Columbia.  Eileen enjoyed playing cards, bingo, making crafts and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 25, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Leipsic with Fr. William Pifher and Fr. Matt Jozefiak co-officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m., Friday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic and one hour prior to the mass Saturday at St. Mary's Parish Life Center.  A rosary by the CL of C and Altar Rosary will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be given to Putnam County Hospice or to the charity of the donor's choice.
