Elaine K. Kirkendall

HAMLER – Elaine K. Kirkendall, 77, of Hamler died 6:15 a.m., Saturday, October 12, 2024, at The Meadows of Leipsic.  She was born August 19, 1947 in Napoleon to the late Alvin and Christina (Huner) Sonnenberg.  On February 5, 1967 she married Craig Kirkendall and he survives in Leipsic.

Other survivors include a daughter-in-law, Sandi Kirkendall of Napoleon; six grandchildren: Abbi, Zak,(Katy), Haley, Dylan, Marissa, Anthony (Samantha);  four great-grandchildren; six siblings: Richard (Suzie) Sonnenberg of Wauseon, Allan Sonnenberg of Defiance, Lynn (Karen) Sonnenberg of Napoleon, Eugene (Julie) Sonnenberg of Garrett, IN, Helena (Troy) Emerson of Oak Harbor and Burdell (Pat) Sonnenberg of Napoleon; and in-laws, Brenda Sonnenberg of Hamler; Greg Kulwicki of Van Wert, Kim (Helen) Kirkendall of Deshler and Kelly (Ed) Verbeke of Hamler.

She was also preceded in death by two sons: Brian Kirkendall and Bradley Kirkendall; a grandson, Brandon Kirkendall; two brothers: James Sonnenberg and Steven Sonnenberg; and sisters-in-law, Pam Kulwicki, and Kim Sonnenberg; and Elaine's special niece, Stephanie.

Elaine retired after 30 years as bus driver for Napoleon City Schools.  She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon and American Legion 300 Auxiliary in Napoleon.  Elaine enjoyed many outdoor sports such as golfing, skiing and snowmobiling.

A celebration of life will be at from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2024 in the Lilac Room at The Meadows of Leipsic.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
