Elaine M. Daly

LIMA – Elaine M. Daly, 81, of Northridge, CA, formerly of Kalida, passed away at 11:03 a.m., Monday, January 1, 2024 at Kessler Estates, Lima.  She was born September 8, 1942, in Lima to the late Alphonse and Anna (Kahle) Wehri.  In July of 1974, she married Daniel A. Daly in San Diego, CA. He preceded her in death in May of 2013.

Survivors include two stepchildren: Daniel (Angela) Daly and Denise Daly; a step grandchild, Aiden Daly;  and eleven siblings: Marilyn Wehri, Dorothy (Ken) Lammers, Sr. Elizabeth Wehri, Carol (Jerry McDonald) Wehri, Dr. Carl (Marleen) Wehri, Norm (Cathy) Wehri, Joan (Dan) Vennekotter, Karen (Steve) Meyer, Anita (Dave) Delger, Linda (Paul) Feleyn and Tim Wehri.

Elaine was a trail blazer for the Wehri's. She was the first to go to college, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Mary Manse College. She taught 6th grade in Kalida for 2 years and Upper Arlington for 3 years. She then went on to work for the Department of Defense in the Azores and Philippines. Elaine continued her education and obtained another Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business from California State University, Fullerton.  She then worked as an accountant/CPA for herself and other firms, including Mattel Toy Company.

Elaine and her husband loved to travel and were blessed with many friendships in China, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, England and Canada.  Elaine also enjoyed gardening, sewing, smocking, needlework and quilting. She made many wedding dresses, as well as a suit for her husband.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
