Eleanor Malone
LIMA – Eleanor Malone, 90, of Lima, formerly of Ottawa died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home in Shawnee. She was born October 7, 1921 in Ottawa to the late Maurice and Leona (Harris) Hogan. On May 22, 1948 she married Lloyd Malone and he is deceased. Her child, M.P.Malone is also deceased.
Eleanor retired May 26, 1983 after teaching for 40 years at Pandora-Gilboa Schools where she was principal at Gilboa School from 1951 through 1953. She began teaching at Pandora and completed her career at Gilboa having taught grades, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8. She graduated from Ottawa Public School and in 1942 she graduated from Bowling Green State University. From 1973 until 1974 she was a Jennings Scholar member of Delta Kappa Gamma. Eleanor was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Ottawa and North Ft. Myers United Methodist Church, Florida. She was a member of Ottawa Eastern Star Association, OEA, NEA, PERT and NWOA. She was a charter member of Twig Benders Mother's Club but resigned when she moved to Lima October 3, 1994.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 13, 2012 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa with Pastor Lynda Lockwood officiating. Burial will follow in Harman Cemetery, Gilboa. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Shriner's.
