LIMA – Elizabeth A. Wellman, 89, of Lima died 10:53 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
She was born July 30, 1922 in Lima to the late Edward H. and Margaret (Casey) Wellman.
Survivors include her seven nieces and nephews: Kathleen (Don) Kennedy of Lima, Mike (Lynda) Conley of Lima, Kevin (Kaye) Conley of Lima, Anne (Gene) Heitmeyer of Columbus Grove, Mary Ellen Smith of Columbus Grove, Miriam Hixenbaugh of Kalida, and Robert (Paula) Henry of Naperville, IL; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters: Marcella Conley, Mary Margaret Hixenbaugh, and Anna Rose Henry; two brothers: Edward Wellman and Fr. Geoffrey Gaughan; and a nephew: Jack Hixenbaugh.
Elizabeth retired from the City Loan and Savings Company in Lima. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Lima and past President of St. John's Altar Rosary Society. She was also a member of Daughters of Isabella and Kibby Corners Association. She graduated from St. John's High School, Lima. She was past Regent of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and spent her entire life volunteering and supporting the church and community.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2012 at St. Rose Catholic Church, Lima with Fr. David Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima where a Wake Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Ottawa.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Catholic Church, Lima or Lima Central Catholic High School.
