Elmer J. "Snook" Klausing

LEIPSIC - Elmer J. "Snook" Klausing, 94, of Leipsic died at 4:10 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at The Cedars, Leo, IN. He was born September 25, 1921 in Leipsic to the late Henry and Catherine (Schmenk) Klausing. On July 4, 1944 he married Jeanette Miller who survives in Leo, IN.

Also surviving are four children: Ken (Jenice) Klausing of Ft. Wayne, IN, Barbara (Art) Samuells of DixHills, NY, Jerry (Sandra) Klausing of Ft. Wayne, IN, and Annie (Marcus Alford) Day of Woodstock, GA; eleven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by four brothers: Monsignor Clarence, Herman, Leonard, and Eugene Klausing and four sisters: Dorothy Lammers, Anna Mae Critchet, Ruth McDaniel, and Marilyn Swary.

Snook was the owner of Kildaire Country Club. He was an Army Air Corp veteran of WWII.  He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic, its choir, and was a former member and past president of the Leipsic School Board. He enjoyed golfing,  gardening, Big Band music, Barbershop music, and was a master level bridge player. He loved visiting with his family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. William Pifher officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Leipsic American Legion. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, and one  hour prior to the mass on Tuesday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic.  Memorials may be made to St. Mary's School, Leipsic.
