Elva Avalon Back
Cloverdale -Avalon Back, 90, of Cloverdale, died 11:16 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2013 at her residence.  She was born October 30, 1922 in Dant, KY., to the late John and Bertha (Pennington) Grindstaff. On November 27, 1937, she married Delmon Back, who died  October 11, 1993.
Avalon is survived by 2 sons: Roger (Linda) Back of Oakwood, and Fred (Nancy) Back of Granville, OH; 2 daughters: Delores (Dennis) Smith of Wapakoneta, and Lorraine (James) Bremer of Hilliard, OH; two brothers: Fred Grindstaff of Briceton and Mack Grindstaff of Oakwood, 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great- grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by 2 daughters: Nancy Majors and Mary Murphy, and 1 brother: Arthur Grandstaff.
Avalon was a homemaker and a member of Mandale United Church of Christ.
Funeral services will begin 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Mandale United Church of Christ with Rev. Don Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Middle Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
