Elvera M. Beckman
Ottawa - Elvera M. Beckman, 92, of Ottawa, died 4:00 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2014 at The Meadows at Putnam Acres. She was born December 29, 1921 in Leipsic to the late Louis and Amelia (Goedde) Schmenk. Elvera married Hubert Beckman who died in 1956.
Elvera is survived by two grandsons: Peter Beckman of Arlington, VA. and Benjamin (Daniella) Beckman of Boston, Ma.; two great-grandchildren: Alexander and Felicia Beckman of Boston; two brothers: Carl Schmenk of Leipsic and Bernard (Ann) Schmenk of Waterville; and a brother-in-law: Tom Smith; and a daughter-in-law: Victoria Vine of Chesterland. She is preceded in death by a son: Dennis Louis Beckman; two brothers and sister-in-laws: Arthur and Donna Schmenk, Leonard and Velma Schmenk and a sister: Clara Smith.
Elvera retired from the United Telephone Company. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa; Ottawa's American Legion Auxiliary , Eagles Auxiliary and the Catholic Ladies of Columbia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, with Fr. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Love Funeral Home, Ottawa.
Memorials may be given to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
