Estella R. Brinkman

KALIDA – Estella R. Brinkman, 86, of Kalida, passed away at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at her residence surrounded by family. She was born on February 4, 1936 in Red Mesa, Colorado to the late Miqueas "Mike" and Ramoncita (Pacheco) Atencio.  On April 4, 1959, she married John Brinkman and he survives in Kalida.

Other survivors include five children: Douglas "Doug" (Lisa) Brinkman of Charlotte, NC, Ramona Brinkman of Cloverdale, John (Troy Lautzenheiser) Brinkman, Jr. of Ft. Wayne, IN, Dorraine (John) Kahle of Kalida and Taylor (Jessica) Brinkman of Columbus Grove; six grandchildren; one brother, Alphonso (Rose) Atencio; two sisters: LaVerne (Ottis) Pulliman, Susan Eiselberger; two sisters-in-law: Roberta Atencio and Loreen Atencio; and one brother-in-law, Carl Maag.

She was also preceded in death by four brothers: Fred, Robert, Leonard and infant brother, John Atencio; and four sisters: Mary Black, Ruth Lynch, Francis Maag and infant sister, Janie Atencio.

Estella worked in the bakery at Kohl's Market.  She was a member of St. Barbara's Catholic Church, Cloverdale. She was a prior member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, Cuba, where she was the RCIA director, a eucharistic minister and a member of the Altar Rosary Society.  She worked at WIC and was a migrant outreach interpreter.  She loved her dog, Friskey. Estella especially loved holidays, baking, gardening in her flower garden and spending time with her grandkids.

Funeral mass will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at St. Barbara's Catholic Church, Cloverdale with Fr. Jerome Schetter officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Isidore Cemetery, Cuba, Ohio.  Visitation will be held from 2 – 8 p.m. on Friday and again on Saturday from 11 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township. A scripture service will be held Friday at 1:45 p.m. and a family rosary at 7:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
