Esther G. Lopez

LEIPSIC – Esther G. Lopez, 84, of Leipsic, passed away at 4:53 p.m. on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at the Meadows of Leipsic.  She was born January 24, 1938, in Mexico, to the late Roman and Josfa (Garzoa) Garcia.  On September 18, 1955, she married Deacon Valentin Lopez, Sr.  He preceded her in death on August 19, 2015.

Surviving are five children: Maria Puente of Leipsic, Emma (JJ) Calvelage of Ft. Jennings, Esmeralda (Rene) Herrera of Green Springs, Elida (Joe Salinas) Tovar of Pharr, TX., and Victor (Rosie) Lopez of Hamler; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; and a brother: Roman Garcia Jr. of Brownsville, TX.

She is preceded in death by a son, Valentin Lopez Jr., and seven siblings.

Esther was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic, and the Guadalupe Society.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, painting, and doing puzzles.  Esther was very crafty.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic with Fr. Randy Giesige officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic with a rosary service at 7:00 p.m. and again on Thursday one hour prior to the Mass at St. Mary's Parish Life Center.
