Esther Goebel

OTTAWA - Esther Goebel, 76, of Ottawa died at 4:55 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2016 at The Meadows of Ottawa. She was born April 23, 1940 in Ottawa to the late Melvin and Engeleen (Dickman) Brinkman. On August 3, 1990 she married Cleo E. Goebel who died February 20, 2004.

She is survived by two sons, Alan (Tammy) Langhals of Strongsville and Whitey (Jenny) Langhals of Leipsic; three daughters, Barb (Tom) Lauth of Ottawa, Linda (Craig) Schmenk of Kalida, and Kay (Gary) Schroeder of Leipsic; six stepchildren, Sue (Junior) Hobeck of Edgerton, Cathy Goebel of San Antonio, TX, Nancy (Todd) Matson of St. Paul, MN, Carl (Dee) Goebel of Beach Grove, TN, Dale (Mary Lou) Goebel of Edon, and Ken (Kendra) Goebel of Sarasota, FL; thirteen grandchildren; eleven step-grandchildren; twelve step great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Len (Bonnie) Brinkman of Ottawa and Ron (Linda) Brinkman of Van Buren. Esther was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Jenny (Oliver) Langhals.

Esther was a financial representative for Modern Woodmen of America Insurance and had been the manager at Big Daddy's in Ottawa. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa where she had been a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the prayer chain. She was also a member of the Leipsic Rod and Gun Club and Leipsic Eagles.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a scripture service at 1:45 p.m. Memorials may be made to Putnam County Home Health and Hospice or to a charity of the donor's choice.
