Esther M. McCallister

OTTAWA - Esther M. McCallister, 92, of Ottawa died at 1:55 a.m. Thursday, November 17, 2016, at The Meadows of Ottawa. She was born March 27, 1924 in Leipsic to the late Ben H. and Martha (Niese) Schroeder. On October 12, 1949 she married William W. McCallister who died May 25, 2014.

She is survived by five children, Dennis (Diane) McCallister of Lincoln, NE, Michael (Anne) McCallister of Portland, OR, Pamela (John) Wilhelm of Hamler, Bruce McCallister of Beavercreek, and Greg (Lisa) McCallister of Olney, MD.; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Walter J. (Mary Lou) Schroeder of Leipsic, a sister, Frances Greenawalt of Indianapolis; and a brother-in-law, Dick Lauer of Glandorf. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Rampe and Edna Lauer; and two brothers-in-law, Richard Greenawalt and Tony Rampe.

Esther had been the Treasurer with Leipsic School District for 17 years. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa and its Rosary Altar Society. She was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Ladies of Columbia, Leipsic.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2016 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Rick Friebel officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Leipsic. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the departure for Mass at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.
